The FRM_2008_2Portuguese National Robotics Festival, which had its 1st edition in 2001, aims at promoting Science and Technology among students from the 1st grade to high-school, as well among the general public, through robots competitions. The Festival, which takes place every year in a different city, also includes an international conference where national an international researchers present their latest work in the field of Robotics. The event has had an enormous growth since the 1st edition, both in the number of teams, participants and visitors. The Festival is currently an initiative of Portuguese Society of Robotics.

bsjThe 10th edition of the National Robotics Festival will be held from the 24th to the 28th of March, 2010, being organized by the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria through its Superior School of Technology and Management. The even includes several competition leagues, namely, Autonomous Driving (league held since the 1st edition of the event), and the leagues that follow the RoboCup oficial rules: Middle Size League (Futebol Robótico Médio), Junior Soccer (Futebol Robótico Júnior), Junior Search and Rescue (Busca e Salvamento Júnior), e Junior Dance (Dança Júnior). Each competition has different age classes, allowing participants with a minimum of 8 years old (check each league website for more detailed information). The international conference is the  "10th Conference on Mobile Robots and Competitions". Beware that the conference will be held at the Superior School of Technology and Management, Leiria, while the competitions will take place at the Expo-Salão, Batalha.


By organizing this event in Portugal, one aims not just at motivating the students participating in the competitions to a multidisciplinary and technologically advanced area, but also contribute to the development of the Robotics and Automation research, while promoting Science and Technology to the general public.

As such, all interested are invited to the biggest Robotics event in Portugal.
